Subaru's well-appointed all-wheel-drive Legacy offers the level of safety that car buyers have come to expect from the carmaker, thanks to additional standard equipment. It's offered in five trim levels, four (2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Sport, and 2.5i Limited) with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder (175 hp) and one (3.6R Limited) with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder (256 hp). Fuel economy on the smaller engine is rated at 34 highway/25 city, while the V6 gets 28 highway/20 city. The Sport trim lives up to its name with a more aggressive appearance, marked by a rear spoiler, larger wheels (18-inch alloys), two-tone cloth seats, special blue stitching, carbon fiber trim, and LED foglights.

Technology
Those seeking the latest technological features will appreciate the Legacy's generous slate of standard features. All trim levels now come with EyeSight Driver Assist, which reduces the likelihood of a crash through adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic forward emergency braking, and pre-collision throttle management. Data from the IIHS indicates that this technology is credited for up to an 85-percent reduction in rear-end collisions that result in injuries. Also standard are Bluetooth iPod control capability, dual USB ports in the front console, and the Subaru STARLINK multimedia system, which integrates with your smartphone (Apple CarPlay or Android Auto) for touchscreen control of music, apps, and safety-response features.

Safety
Driving safety starts with keeping the tires in contact with the road, and Subaru includes the standard equipment to support that, starting with all-wheel drive, traction control, and vehicle dynamics control. Other standard active and passive features work to avoid crashes, or respond with critical aid when a collision can't be avoided. The standard EyeSight suite helps keep the driver from leaving the lane or rear-ending the vehicle ahead, and STARLINK will call first responders whenever an airbag has been deployed. There's also a rear-vision camera in every Legacy. Blind-spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert is available on the 2.5i Premium and standard on the Sport, Limited, and 3.6R Limited. For safety outside of the car, the three highest trim levels have keyless entry with PIN-code access, as well as push-button start. As part of the All-Weather Package (not available on the base model), heated side mirrors and a de-icer for the windshield wiper are included to guarantee good visibility in frosty times.

Passenger Comfort
Subarus were built for winter, and this luxury-level version has an All-Weather Package (not available on the base model) that includes heated front seats on the 2.5i Premium and Sport, and both rows heated on the 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited. Those top two trims also get their front-row seats upgraded to power-adjustable with leather trim on the cloth upholstery.
