2027 Subaru Getaway

Subaru’s expanding EV lineup will soon have another entry, and it’s going to make waves. The 2027 Getaway will boast the highest output of any Subaru production model, with Subaru promising 420 horsepower from a dual-motor setup that powers the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. It will perch at the top of the automaker’s electrified lineup and provide more than 300 miles of range.

The Getaway will bring together familiar Subaru traits, including increased ground clearance, all-weather capability, and utility, on an all-electric platform. At the same time, it will introduce a new interior layout and digital interface that will separate it from its EV stablemates. The 2027 Subaru Getaway won’t arrive at Balise Subaru until late 2026, but we’ve compiled a preview based on what we know so far.

Design & Exterior Details

The Getaway will reflect Subaru’s newer EV design cues while still maintaining an upright shape that’s right at home alongside the company’s traditional crossovers. The front end will use a lighting setup with an illuminated Subaru badge and daytime running lights that also double as charging indicators when it’s plugged in.

Along the sides, flush door handles and simple body surfacing will help reduce drag, while standard roof rails stand ready for cargo duty. At the rear, Subaru will use a three-dimensional illuminated logo and a wide lighting signature to enhance the vehicle’s visibility after dark. Wheel sizes will range from 19 to 20 inches, depending on the trim level.

Powertrain & Performance

All versions of the Getaway will use a dual-motor layout, with electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles. Total output is estimated at 420 horsepower, with a 0-to-60 mph time of under five seconds. Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system will be standard, working with the X-MODE dual-mode system for low-traction conditions.

The system will include settings for snow and dirt, along with downhill assist and grip control. Ground clearance will come in at 8.3 inches, while towing capacity will reach 3,500 pounds.

Range & Charging

The Getaway will launch with a 95.8-kWh battery, and Subaru is targeting more than 300 miles of range. A smaller 77.0-kWh pack is also in the pipeline, although at the time of this writing the company had not yet stated the expected range for that version.

Charging will rely on a standard NACS port, so access to Tesla’s Supercharger network is built in. Subaru projects top Level 3/DC fast-charging capability at 150 kW. Under peak conditions, that’s enough to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in about half an hour.

Interior Space

The Getaway’s cabin will offer seating for up to seven passengers, with available second-row captain’s chairs that will reduce capacity to six. Subaru says the interior will provide enough headroom and legroom for adults in all three rows, including six-foot passengers.

Access to the third row will be simplified with one-touch second-row folding seats, while a power-folding third row will allow for quick transitions between passenger and cargo configurations. With the third row folded down, cargo capacity will reach up to 45.6 cubic feet, with 15.9 cubic feet of designated cargo space behind the third row.

Safety & Driver Assistance

The Getaway will come with Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assistance suite. Standard components are expected to include pre-collision braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.

Higher trims should add features such as traffic-jam assist, lane-change assist, and advanced parking systems. A digital rearview mirror and additional driver aids will also be available.

Technology & Connectivity

Subaru will equip the Getaway with a 14-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be standard.

Dual wireless device chargers will be available in the first row, with USB-C ports offered for every row. For an interesting and modern effect, the Getaway will also feature ambient interior lighting that syncs with the selected drive mode.
