Subaru Added Security Maintenance

2023 subaru forester

Overview

While most third-party extended service agreements are designed to be profitable to the seller, Subaru’s Added Security plan is unique in that it’s designed with the customer’s best interests in mind. Rather than maximizing profits, it rewards the consumer by fully covering wear and tear on their vehicle’s covered components. If one of those components breaks, factory-trained Subaru technicians will fix the problem using new or remanufactured Genuine Subaru Parts. Added Security is the only mechanical breakdown coverage plan that’s backed by Subaru of America, so you’ll feel the utmost peace of mind with your investment.

Comprehensive Component Coverage

With Subaru Added Security, your vehicle’s components will be covered for up to 8 years/100,000 miles or 10 years/120,000 miles – longer than most third-party service plans. There are two main plans to choose from: Classic and Gold Plus. Both include towing and rental car allowances, but they differ in the comprehensiveness of their component coverage. The next section shows a breakdown of their differences.

Classic and Gold Plus Plans

The Classic Plan covers almost all major components of your Subaru. It includes all Powertrain coverage (engine, transaxle, and differential components), as well as additional specific components and major systems such as cooling and fuel, steering, suspension, brakes, electrical, and air conditioning. Meanwhile, the Gold Plus plan groups everything in the Classic Plan, in addition to coverage for virtually every other part of your Subaru. It even covers the brand’s most sophisticated systems, like the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, DriverFocus distraction mitigation, STARLINK Multimedia, and STARLINK Safety and Security. These systems would be costly to repair on their own, which makes Added Security a worthwhile investment for most buyers. What’s more, Gold Plus reimburses you for lodging and meals when a breakdown interrupts your travel plans. It also provides 24-hour roadside assistance, jump starts, tire changes, and more – including a $100 allowance for dispatched towing.

Maintenance Plans

If you’re planning to lease, it’s worth considering the Subaru Added Security maintenance plan since you can easily add it to the cost of your lease payment. The main benefit of maintenance plans is that they allow you to secure the cost of the scheduled maintenance required to not only keep your basic factory warranty valid, but also to keep your car running great. For added peace of mind, all services are conducted by factory-trained technicians who use Genuine Subaru Parts in the maintenance process.

How Else Can Added Security Benefit Me?

In addition to the various benefits listed above, Added Security has a few more desirable qualities attached to it. For one, it will enhance your Subaru’s resale value, since any remaining coverage can be transferred within 30 days to another owner. But if you prefer, you can choose to cancel your coverage and apply for a prorated refund. Added Security can be purchased with or without a deductible; however, if you do choose a plan with a deductible, you will only pay it once for each repair visit. This contrasts with some other plans where you may need to pay a deductible for each component being repaired during the same visit. Finally, Added Security is a great way to protect your investment as it shields against inflation on future repairs.
