The warm weather is here and everyone is looking for reasons to be outside.

The Balise organization took to the outdoors this past weekend with a trip to the 2015 Ocean State Tour de Cure—a one-day cycling event designed by the American Diabetes Association to honor those with diabetes. There are an estimated 29 million children and adults in the United States alone who are affected by diabetes—7 million who are unaware they have the disease.

As a silver sponsor of the event and a lover of all things bike-related (in the past, we’ve sponsored BikeFest RI and Cyclo-Cross), Balise Subaru had a blast participating in the special event held at University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy.

The day featured five cycling routes ranging from family-friendly 7-mile ride to a challenging 100-mile journey. The bike routes follow the Rhode Island coastline giving riders prime views of the gorgeous coves and beaches. After a long day of riding, Ocean State Tour de Cure invited guests to celebrate at the post-ride festival featuring a delicious catered lunch, live entertainment, free massages, a health & wellness expo and much more.

The 2015 event was a huge success with 541 riders, 145 volunteers, and many spectators and vendors. Further, the event raised $292,000 for the American Diabetes Association.

Balise Subaru had an amazing time and was thrilled to play a part in a local event which celebrates those with diabetes and those who dedicate their lives to Stop Diabetes.
