2025 Subaru BRZ

Overview
For many, driving is more than just a way to get from one place to another – it’s an experience, a thrill, and sometimes even a passion. This is exactly why cars like the Subaru BRZ remain popular, even as crossovers and SUVs dominate the market. As a lightweight sports coupe, the BRZ provides nimble, dynamic handling that can inject some serious excitement into an otherwise mundane drive. Let’s start with the fact that it’s still offered with a manual transmission. Then consider its performance-focused rear-wheel drivetrain, sport-tuned suspension, and zippy 228-horsepower engine, and you’ll clearly see that the BRZ is crafted for those who crave a more exhilarating connection with the road.
The 2025 BRZ arrives with some updates that enhance both its performance and style. For manual transmission versions, Subaru now includes the Sport drive mode, along with the full EyeSight driver-assist technology suite for added confidence on the road. Some aesthetic refinements have been added to the Limited, which now features black Ultrasuede seats with bold red leather bolsters, darker red contrast stitching, and additional red interior accents to strengthen its track-inspired appeal.

Trims, Powertrain, and Performance
The 2025 BRZ is offered in three distinct trims: Premium, Limited, and tS. All three get a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 228 hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, with an STI short-throw upgrade available from the factory. The Limited is the only trim that’s eligible for a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. For fuel efficiency, the manual-transmission BRZ achieves an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway, while automatic version edges slightly higher at 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway.
Standout Features
The entry-level Premium trim packs a nice set of features, including cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob with red stitching, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sport-tuned suspension, selectable drive modes (Normal, Sport, and Track), a 7-inch LCD gauge cluster, two USB data ports, LED headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels with high-performance summer tires.
The Limited delivers extra refinement with red-accented Ultrasuede and leather-trimmed upholstery, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, LED steering responsive headlights, and 18-inch wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4 performance tires. As mentioned, it’s the only trim that can be ordered with an automatic tranny. At the top of the lineup, the tS is designed for avid performance enthusiasts, boasting an STI-tuned suspension, Brembo performance brakes, an STI-designed 7-inch LCD gauge cluster, and blue contrast stitching for a distinctive touch.
Advanced Safety Equipment
The Subaru EyeSight safety suite comes standard in the ’25 BRZ, providing adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure and sway warning, and lane keep assist. Automatic high beams are also installed on all trims, while the Limited and tS add blind-spot detection, lane change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. When the Limited has the automatic transmission, it also gets reverse automatic braking.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All 2025 BRZ trims are equipped with Subaru’s intuitively operated STARLINK multimedia system. This includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, voice-activated controls, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Premium gets a six-speaker audio system, while the Limited and tS upgrade to an eight-speaker setup for a richer sound experience.
