See How the Subaru Outback Compares to the Subaru Ascent in West Warwick
If you're shopping for a new Subaru SUV, there's a chance you have considered the Subaru Outback and Subaru Ascent. West Warwick, Warwick, and Providence drivers know the benefits of owning an SUV, but Balise Subaru is here to tell you a little more about each model.
Subaru Outback vs Subaru Ascent Comparison
When you look at both exterior designs, you'll notice that the Ascent looks like a bigger version of the Outback. And although both are considered mid-size SUVs, the Subaru Ascent is larger. It can carry up to seven or eight of your closest friends, while the Outback has seating for five.
Performance is where these two SUVs shine because both come equipped with a SUBARU BOXER® engine. Under the hood of the Ascent, you'll discover the 260 horsepower all-new Direct-Injection Turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine, which also delivers 277 pound-feet of torque. The Outback is equipped with the standard 175 horsepower SUBARU BOXER® engine with up to 32 mpg, or you can upgrade to the smooth and powerful 256 horsepower 6-cylinder engine.
Both SUVs can tow a small trailer, but the Ascent can tow a small boat thanks to its 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity. The Outback can still tow up to 2,700 pounds or 3,000 pounds with the 6-cylinder engine option.
You will be able to conquer rough terrain in either model thanks to 8.7 inches of ground clearance and X-MODE®, which optimizes the all-wheel-drive system.
Whether you choose the Outback or the Ascent, you have plenty of safety features to keep you well protected, including EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology.
If you have a large family, or if you're going to need to do some towing, the Ascent is right for you. If you want something a little smaller in size, but still gives you plenty of options, we suggest the Outback. But we know no matter which SUV you choose; you won't be disappointed.
