2019 Subaru Impreza

With standard symmetrical all-wheel drive and fuel economy up to 38 mpg, the 2019 Subaru Impreza delivers a lot of car for a modest price. It comes in sedan and five-door styles, all powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine. Its six trim levels are the 2.0i Sedan, 2.0i 5-Door, 2.0i Premium Sedan, 2.0i Premium 5-Door, and 2.0i Sport Sedan. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on the base and Sport trims for both the Sedan and 5-door, but those buyers can opt for the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission that comes standard on the Premium trims. On all but the base-level trims that opt for the CVT, paddle shifters are included to enhance the driver experience.

Safety

It's no surprise that the 2019 Impreza is well equipped with safety features - after all, it's a Subaru. Highlights of the standard active features are the ubiquitous Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a rear-view camera, vehicle dynamics control, and several braking-related technologies (reverse automatic braking, brake assist, and a brake override system). Passive safety equipment found on every Impreza trim include the STARLINK Safety & Security system, which activates crucial features - such as calling first responders - when any airbag is set off. The EyeSight driver-assist suite is standard on the Limited and available on the other trims. It combines warning functions and pre-collision braking for greater peace of mind on the road.

Technology

The Impreza is well outfitted with technology, starting with the Subaru STARLINK touchscreen multimedia infotainment system. It integrates Android or iPhone functions (communication, music, apps) with safety-related responses in the event of a collision or other emergency. A navigation system can be added to STARLINK on the two Limited trims. A rear-vision camera is standard for safe backing. The audio system, Bluetooth, and cruise control (including EyeSight adaptive cruise, if the car is so equipped) can be controlled from the steering wheel.

Passenger Comfort/Cargo Space

The Premium, Sport, and Limited trims include the All-Weather Package, highlighted by heated front cloth seats. As the highest trim, the Limited maxes out interior amenities with leather-trimmed upholstery and automatic climate control. Cargo volume is ample, reaching over 55 cubic feet when the rear seatbacks are down.
