2024 Subaru WRX TR

Overview
Subaru enthusiasts have missed the WRX TR since it took a hiatus in 2007. But this variant will soon return to the lineup with its superior handling and performance. With a revised suspension, upgraded steering, high-performance tires, and a Brembo braking setup, the TR has been designed to hug the road and thrill its driver. It will also make news as the first Subaru with a manual transmission to get the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite as standard equipment.
In previous lineups, the TR was stripped and barebones, waiting for drivers to mechanically customize the car (after all, TR stands for “tuner ready”). This reborn iteration of the WRX TR is different in that it’ll come equipped with plenty of performance upgrades, with no need for its owner to install them.

Trims and Powertrains
The TR is slated as the top trim of the upcoming 2024 WRX. Its heart will be a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER engine making 271 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque, which will pair only with a six-speed stick. Like all Subarus (save for the BRZ), it will get the Symmetrical all-wheel drive system, along with Active Torque Vectoring to ensure that each wheel gets the precise power it needs for optimal performance based on the driving conditions.
The TR will have a Brembo high-performance braking system with 6-piston red calipers on the front and 2-piston red calipers on the rear. The system’s larger brake master cylinder is paired with bigger rotors and pads for better stopping power. It also supplies improved pedal feel and less fade resistance. The TR will also include a specially tuned steering rack, updated damping rates, and stiff springs to increase steering response and body control.
Standard Features
The TR will have Recaro front seats covered in Ultrasuede (black and gray) with contrasting red stitching and a special embossed logo on the seatback. Its driver’s seat will provide 8-way power adjustability, while the lack of a moonroof will leave more space for the track driver who wears a helmet.
The car’s wide-body style will be topped with a hexagonal grille, compact headlights, and a broad front hood scoop, with the roof-mounted shark fin antenna, low-profile rear spoiler, and folding exterior mirrors matching the body color. Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires on 19-inch multi-spoke satin-gray wheels will hold fast to the road and enhance braking.
Advanced Driver Aids
As mentioned, the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology will come standard on the WRX TR, making it the first manual-transmission Subaru to receive the package. Its components will be adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, automated emergency braking, and lead vehicle start alert, which notifies drivers when the car in front of the TR begins to move forward.
Infotainment and Connectivity
Look for the WRX TR to have an 11.6-inch touchscreen STARLINK multimedia system. It will have all of the necessary features for on-the-road communication and entertainment, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, hands-free text messaging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and HD Radio.
