2025 Subaru Solterra

The 2025 Solterra is an EV built for adventure – thanks in large part to Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive (AWD). This drivetrain continuously sends power to all four wheels instead of waiting until slippage is detected. This boosts overall stability and capability on unpaved surfaces as well as in challenging weather, with the help of 8.3 inches of ground clearance. Fast-charge capability can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 35 minutes (with a DC fast charger). The standard roof rails 23.8-cubic-foot cargo area ensure that you’ll be able to take everything you need for your weekend getaway. Safety is no exception, with the automaker’s advanced driver-assist tech installed on every trim level, including Subaru’s DriverFocus distraction mitigation system and the EyeSight driver-assist suite.

In a change for 2025, the Touring Onyx Edition makes its debut, bringing eye-catching black accents to the already fully loaded Touring trim. Buyers will also appreciate the peace of mind that comes from Subaru’s reputation for producing the longest-lasting vehicles as well as being the top automotive brand for social impact.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2025 Solterra comes in four trim levels: Premium, Limited, Touring, and the debuting Touring Onyx Edition. Subaru’s StarDrive all-electric powertrain comes standard on all trims, with an output of 215 horsepower and 249 lb.-ft. of torque. As with most Subaru models, Symmetrical AWD is standard.

The Premium trim can be driven up to 227 miles on a full charge, achieving 94 MPGe highway and 114 MPGe city. The higher trims all return 93 MPGe highway and 111 MPGe city, with an estimated range of 222 miles. The Solterra’s lithium-ion battery can fully recharge from empty in 11 hours (9.5 hours from when the battery’s low-charge warning light comes on) using a 240-volt outlet or from 10 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes with a DC fast charger.

Standard Features

The Premium’s standard amenities start with cloth-upholstered, heated six-way manually adjustable front seats and dual-zone climate control with vents for the second row. It also gets keyless entry with push-button start, a configurable 7-inch LCD instrument cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an automatic anti-glare rearview mirror, illuminated front USB-A and C ports, rear USB-C ports, an under-floor storage tray in the cargo area, silver metallic-finished accent trim, and a reclining second row with 60/40-split flat-folding seatbacks and a fold-down armrest with cupholders. Its exterior highlights are multi-beam LED headlights with automatic high beams, heated side-view mirrors, fixed crossbar mounting points with roof rails, and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with black-and silver-finished covers.

The Limited is significantly improved with StarTex upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals and entry illumination, wireless smartphone charging, digital key compatibility with the Solterra Connect app, LED fog lights, a power liftgate with automatic close and height memory, a HomeLink-equipped rearview mirror, heated second-row seats, satin chrome-finished accent trim, a split design roof spoiler with aerodynamic fins, and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with a gray machined finish and silver spoke inserts. The Touring adds the luxury of ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof with a power sunshade, and a digital rearview mirror. The Touring Onyx Edition gets all of that plus gloss-black exterior trim and wheels.

Safety Amenities

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology suite is standard across the Solterra lineup. It consists of dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system, pre-collision braking, emergency steering assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane departure alert and prevention, lane tracing assist, lane change assist, and traffic jam assist for low-speed, hands-free driving. A blind-spot monitor with front and rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, as are a rear vision camera, vehicle stability control with traction control, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist and a brake override system, a parking support brake (for safety when backing up), and Subaru’s DriverFocus distraction mitigation system, which reminds the operator to pay attention when it senses that they’ve looked away from the road. The Limited and higher add to their safety array with a panoramic-view 360-degree camera and Advanced Park (automated parking assistance).

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Premium has an 8-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen and a six-speaker sound system, while the other trims move up to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a high-end Harman Kardon sound system with eleven speakers.
