Trims and Powertrains
Five trims — the Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Wilderness — make up the 2025 Crosstrek lineup. As mentioned, the Base receives a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 152 horsepower, while the other trims advance to a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine generating 182 horsepower. All trims get a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in combination with Subaru’s Symmetric All-Wheel-Drive system. All but the Base get steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for more hands-on manual-mode operation.
According to the EPA, the Base trim returns 27 mpg around town and 34 mpg on the highway, with the highway rating dipping just 1 mpg for the Premium, Sport, and Limited. With the additional weight of its specialized components, the Wilderness achieves slightly lower fuel efficiency at 25 city/29 highway. Every 2025 Crosstrek has 19.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the rear seats, which grows to 54.7 cu. ft. with those seats folded down. The robust Wilderness is capable of towing 3,500 pounds, while the other trims are limited to 1,500 pounds.
Standard and Optional Equipment
Practicality with a dose of convenience defines the Base trim, which gets keyless entry, a 4.2-inch digital driver display, cloth upholstery, auto-on/off steering-responsive LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt/telescopic steering column, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, a USB port, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Upgrades to the Premium include proximity keyless entry, push-button start, more USB ports, paddle shifters, fog lights (LED), power-adjustable exterior mirrors with turn indicators, roof rails, and an illuminated glove compartment. The All-Weather Package (a power moonroof, a ten-way power driver’s seat, and heated front seats, windshield, and exterior mirrors) is an option.
Trim-specific exterior and interior styling define the Sport, which also gets upgraded AWD, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, premium cloth upholstery, heated exterior mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Its options include a ten-way power driver’s seat and a power moonroof. The Limited blends special styling with more luxurious touches such as perforated leather upholstery, enhanced exterior lighting, and a ten-way power driver's seat. The power moonroof is available.
As mentioned, the Wilderness is ready for adventure with its specialized off-road capability, starting with a suspension that’s tuned for the trails, plus the aforementioned increased ground clearance, water-repellent StarTex upholstery, a front skid plate, and all-terrain tires on matte-black 17-inch alloy wheels. It also has modified gear ratios to improve control at low speeds, and it’s equipped with a transmission oil cooler to allow it to tow 2,000 lb. more than the other trims. Its exterior is distinguished by hexagonal-style LED fog lights and a higher-strength roof rack system. It qualifies for a power moonroof and a ten-way power driver’s seat as a la carte options.
Safety and Driver Assist Technology
Subaru's EyeSight system is standard in every 2025 Crosstrek. This suite consists of automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking and steering, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, lane departure and sway warning, and lane keep assist. On the Premium and Sport, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency steering, and rear cross-traffic alert are all optional, while these technologies along with rear automatic braking come standard on the Limited and Wilderness. All trims receive a rearview monitor, an array of airbags, traction control, and vehicle stability control.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A four-speaker audio system combines with dual 7-inch touchscreens as the Base trim’s infotainment core, bringing together Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Sirius XM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. The other trims get an additional pair of speakers, an 11.6-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to Subaru connected services, offering emergency support and other remote services. An optional ten-speaker Harman Kardon audio setup is available for the Limited and Wilderness, while integrated navigation can only be added to the Limited.
